Services
Every service includes my full professional preparation, on-time arrival, and complete attention to your congregation's needs. Below is a summary of what I offer and typical fee ranges for Southeastern Michigan.
Substitute Organist
When your regular organist is unavailable, I step in seamlessly. I review the bulletin, learn the scheduled hymns, and arrive ready to lead worship — without burdening your Music Director with hand-holding. I am well-versed / experienced with most Christian denominations (Lutheran ELCA & LCMS, Catholic, Episcopal/Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Congrational/UCC.
What's included:
-
Pre-service preparation and hymn review
-
Prelude, all congregational music, offertory, and postlude
-
Communication with your Music Director in advance to confirm expectations
-
Short-notice availability in most circumstances for non-Sunday service — please call me ASAP
Typical Fee: $150 - $125
Organ Tuning & Maintenance
Your pipe organ is one of your congregation's most significant and most irreplaceable assets. It deserves the care of someone who not only understands how it is built, but who knows intimately how it is supposed to sound.
As both a performing organist and a trained technician, I bring something to this work that most tuners cannot: a player's ear. I don't just measure pitch with a meter and move on. I listen the way a musician listens — for tone, balance, responsiveness, and the subtle qualities that make an instrument a joy to play or a frustration to work around.
Services available:
-
Tuning — seasonal and as-needed tuning for pipe organs of all sizes
-
Preventive maintenance — scheduled care to catch small problems before they become costly ones
-
Repairs — addressing ciphers, slow or sticking notes, leaking windchests, and other common issues
-
Consultation & assessment — an independent professional evaluation of your instrument's condition, with a written summary and recommendations
Typical Fees: $50 flat fee for an initial assessment. This fee is applied, in full, towards contracted services performed. Cost for tuning, preventive maintenance, and repairs are charged hourly ($50/hour per technician). Travel fees may be applicable if contracted services are outside of service area. For reference, most organ tunings can be completed by two technicians in 2–4 hours depending on instrument size.
